'Le Château du Marais' is the name the people of Caerfort use to describe the ancient ruins lying on the western edge of the Bracken Mere.  Their true name is unknown, as is the identity of their builders.

The ruins are very old - they certainly long predate the settlement of Caerfort - and very unlike the current ramshackle towns of the Iron Claw Hills and Last Water.  The evidence of battle suggests the town fell to an invading force of Orcs in the distant past.

Symbols found on the walls suggest a strange, pictogram based language and the reoccurring symbol of animals, eyes and a winged sun - presumably the mark of a deity.
